How Recycled Plastic Finds its Way to the Highways

Jun 9, 2022 | Newsletter Posts

As global population grows it’s a natural side effect that waste material grows along with it and within that waste, a large component of it tends to be plastic. Unfortunately, while the utility value of plastics is of upmost importance it’s also one of the slowest decomposing materials when deposited in landfills which then leads to faster rates of fill capacity being met. This is not good as we only have so much space on the planet.

Another side effect of decomposing plastic is the release of harmful chemicals that may eventually seep into vital components of the earth such as community water supplies.

So, what can we do to reduce the long-term negative effects of this plastic waste in landfills and waterways?

There have been many innovative methods to go about recycling and reusing plastic-based products. In fact, today we wanted to share with you two forward-thinking concepts of the re-application process of plastic and its transformation into working roads.

Data has showed that these new solutions may be more durable than traditional asphalt roads while also offering better utility when it comes to water evacuation and internal construction applications.

Learn more about how it works by watching the below videos. You will be amazed at how plastic may play a new role in modern infrastructure rebuilding.
